Some of my patients may know that I am an avid cook. (I even have a blog, Sunday is My Happy Day, where I occasionally relay some of my cooking experiences and my life outside of Periodontics.) I finally decided to put my skills to the test.
Like everyone else, I enjoy watching Chopped, Food Network Star and Iron Chef Who doesn’t enjoy friendly, cut-throat competition? So, in the spirit of those great shows, a friend of mine, Dario Eklund, and I will be going head- to-head in an actual cooking competition in Tampa, Florida.
We have booked a large kitchen and assembled two teams of five each (that are almost as competitive as their respective team leaders) that will compete for the praise of of the doctors and dentists at a national dentists convention in Tampa in March. Which reminds me of something Bernard Shaw said: “Everything I eat has been proved by some doctor or other to be a deadly poison, and everything I don’t eat has been proved to be indispensable for life. But I go marching on.” I know this won’t be Master Chef, but it will certainly be intense…and a blast.
Wish me luck in the competition and when I return, I’ll post pictures of the event on Facebook.
