When dental implants are planned as replacements for failed endodontically treated teeth that have compromised the alveolar ridge, combining ridge augmentation techniques such as guided bone regeneration (GBR) with connective tissue grafting, as well as delaying implant placement, are strategies to achieve prosthetically guided dental implant positioning. Subsequent management with meticulous fixed provisionalization can then provide for optimal peri-implant soft tissues, enhancing the esthetic outcome for the definitive restorations.
